Hello fitness friends! We’re back with another ‘Get To Know You’ post on DFW Pilates Instructor and Fitness Influencer, Maiah Holbrook. Her instagram page is full of all things fitness inspo as she is BODY GOALS! As a resident of Dallas she’s always busy training and teaching pilates classes at One Lagree. Luckily, she had some time to share with us about her fitness journey and answer some other questions, too.
-What made you choose a career in Fitness?
I don’t think I chose fitness, I believe it chose me. I took the nutrition and wellness route after being failed time and time again by traditional medicine and doctors. Fitness was always a personal staple for me, as I learned how much food could improve my fitness performance. I pushed myself to learn more and help others through both nutrition and fitness.
-How long have been into Fitness?
I would say all of my life! When I was 8 years old my dad made my brother and I ride our bikes to the track and run a mile non stop, every morning at 6am. It was a summer ritual even after I moved out of my parents house. I spent my summers teaching dance at summer camps. During the school year I’d run track and swim. In college I worked and worked out at the universities HPER. I was also part of my sororities step team. If I wasn’t injured, I was moving! Currently, I find new programs to push myself. I’m obsessed with Lagree Fitness, it’s really changed my body.
-What are your certifications in?
I am a certified personal trainer and a certified Lagree Fitness Instructor.
-What makes you different than any other trainer?
I believe my ability to identify and break down what is holding my clients back sets me apart. There is a difference between knowing the information and knowing when to apply it. Everyone’s challenges and goals are so unique, I truly enjoy the problem solving side of training and nutrition.
-How do you stay motivated to workout?
My personal goals keep me motivated, there’s always something new I want to learn or master. I know the more experience I have, the more people I can impact.
-If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
If I could go anywhere it would be South Africa!
-Is it a deal breaker if your significant other doesn’t workout?
Yes! It’s literally all I do in my free time. I want someone with the same health and wellness values as me so they can push me and I can push them. You can’t grow if you’re constantly helping others, you’ve got to have time to grow yourself. A significant other who isn’t into health and wellness could cause me to limit myself.
-Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In the next 5 years I see myself in another major city, owning my own business as a CNS, looking even better than I do today!
