What made you want to become a personal trainer?
Becoming a personal trainer wasn’t the plan. I was working at the front desk at Gold’S Gym while I figured out if I wanted to do freelance graphic design or try to work for a company. I worked out there in my off time and because of the great relationships i made with the members one of the trainers suggested it to me and it just snowballed. It happened very naturally and unexpectedly.
What was the hardest part about becoming a personal trainer?
The hardest part about about becoming a personal trainer was working for a corporation. They take a large percentage of your money and make you do awkward things like try to pick up clients in the gym while members are working out! Lol It just wasn’t the kind of environment I thrived in so it became a source of stress. That’s what I knew it was time to move.
How can people not be fooled by false fitness transformations made by trainers on social media?
It’s pretty easy to be fooled in this day and age. So many people have surgery that it makes progress seem instantaneous. A lot of times pictures are photoshopped and even stolen. Many influencers/celebrities tout teas and waist trainers that they know don’t work because they are getting paid to do so and because they’ve had surgery they have the “look.” You have to be careful who you trust!
What do you find challenging about owning your own business?
The most challenging thing about owning a small business is having to do EVERYTHING myself. I don’t have a business partners so all of the responsibility for everything from writing workouts to marketing and advertising falls on me. It can be extremely overwhelming.
If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
Santorini is definitely top on my list!
What is one form of fitness you would like to try that you haven’t tried already?
Honestly, I’ve tried all of the forms of fitness that I’ve wanted to try. I can’t wait to get back to Jiu Jitsu and kick boxing…it’s my absolute favorite.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself with a thriving studio, fitness apparel line, as well as one of the top Doulas in Dallas!
