Student debt, F boys, the lack of high-paying jobs and an era of social media contribute to the hardships of being a millennial woman. Your 20s are you grind years, but they’re also the years where you truly learn the most about yourself. Fitness in your 20s can take a toll, too. Trying to balance everything can be difficult, which is why it’s so important to find activities that refuel you.
As women, it’s important that we practice self-care when it comes to our mind, body and spirit. Fitness in your 20s often consists of mediocre workout routines to just get you by. If you want to crank it up a notch, you have to be willing to develop time management skills. Developing a workout routine will not only help you distress, but it’ll help you get the body you desire.

Some great ways you can develop a workout routine that suits your busy schedule is:
- Pack your gym bag before going to work and keep it in your car
- Get an accountability partner that will encourage you to workout
- Schedule gym check-ins ahead of time, so it coincides with your schedule
- Set a certain amount of days you want to workout each week
If you stick to the four points listed above, you’ll be able to get into the habit of working out consistently. Once you get into the habit of actually going to the gym or exercising at home, you can start to tweak the types of workouts you want to do. Someone who wants to gain muscle wouldn’t need to do extreme cardio. Extreme cardio would be the type of workout for someone wanting to lose weight. The best thing to do before working out is set the goal you want to accomplish and then execute to achieve the goal.
Some great fitness tips you can do at the gym or at home include working out your upper body and ab exercises, this will help with side flanks. Other tips include, completing intense moves for short period of time. High intensity interval training, otherwise known as HIIT, is a brilliant exercise for women with busy lifestyles, says personal trainer Nicola Macbeth, of boutique fitness chain F45 in Oxford Circus, London, because it’s short and sweet. Lastly, focus on exercises that work multiple muscle groups at once, like squats, deadlift and curtsey lunges.
